LETS TALK ABOUT FOLKLORE FROM 4 CONTINENTS

By Nuning Damayanti 2020

The International Virtual Exhibition of Folklore from 4 Continents was inspired by folklore texts of the archipelago and also the world. In this exhibition, 4 Indonesian female artists, Ariesa Pandanwangi, Arleti M Apin, Belinda Sukapura and Nuning Damayanti collaborate with Ana Sora (Spain), Anitra Heiberg Lykke (Norway), Bailey Onaga (Hawaii), Chase Tokutaro (Hawaii), Divya Baid (India), Greta Coll (Australia), Kobie Swart (Australia).  They reinterpret Folklore of various Mithos stories and exhibit them together in this international virtual exhibition, as an effort to understand each other's culture in their respective countries. In addition, there is a  mission to recall the values of life that are implied in the Folklore that may have been forgotten.  Every country in the world has a Folklore in its culture. We will find it in the legendary classic story. The results of the research of a number of experts show that there are still people who believe that this folklore once lived in the culture of the world community, an image of the mindset of their ancestors and then inherited from generation to generation until now. These stories inspire so many artists to interpret and visualize in art, as well as the artworks in this exhibition.  Folklore stories that are imaginative and mysterious will always adapt to their times. They will not disappear, they will always be inspiring and contextual throughout the ages.
